The Big Question: What Happened To My Arm?!

First off, you guys are, like, super observant.  I mean, my brace was barely noticeable in that one picture, and two or three of you caught it.  All the awards.  I decided just to type a post, rather then answer in the comments.  =)

Well, this long, somewhat pitiful story begins way back in September, on Labor Day, in fact.  Some unsuspecting girl was innocently *ahem* trying *cough cough* to cartwheel.   And, let us be honest, she was failing quite miserably.  But, she promised herself, someday she would learn how to do a full, complete, perfect cartwheel.  Little did she know then, but that day would never come *enter dramatic music.*

Okay, to be honest I has attempting to cartwheel when some friends were over and I fell during one of them.  I didn't think much about it until it started hurting a couple days later.  At first it only hurt when I leaned on it, but it started to hurt a lot more.  My dad (who happened to have quite a few injuries back in his younger days) just happened to have a wrist brace close at hand.  (Did you catch the pun? tehe)  That is what you saw in the TT picture, and it is what you see below; in much closer detail.

Fun, right?  Uck is more like it.  Well, we went to the Urgent Care and got it X-rayed.  Yup, I hadn't broke it.  (Caught you off guard, didn't I? tehe)  They said I just sprained it.  So I wore this dumb thing for about 6 weeks.  And it had stopped hurting.  Well, that lasted for about 2 and 1/2 months.  Then, all of a sudden, it started hurting again.  I tried to ignore it, but finally pain won over and I pulled it back out again.  After a week of wearing it, it was only hurting more.  So Mom set up an appointment with a special bone doctor.  We went over there last Friday.  I got it x-rayed again.  And the doctor said that I still hadn't broke it.  But I had injured the joint somehow; something to do with the plates.  Anyway, my next decision was what color cast I wanted.  I wanted light pink, and they didn't have that, only hot pink.  So I decided hot pink.  But, of course, they were out!  So I ended up with blue.  =P

In these pictures I only had about 3 signatures.  Now I have about 12.  Tomorrow I will have had it one week.  I meant to post about it as soon as I got it, but I got busy and couldn't type it up.  I'm sorry it's been so long before you all heard about it.

Anyway, as of tomorrow it's 1week down, 4 1/2 more to go.  Bleech.  For any of you who have not yet had to wear a cast, I'll tell you right now, it's not fun.  =P

Well, that's all for tonight.  I have a story to tell you about my doctors office trip, but that will have to wait, I've got to go to bed.  Good night, everyone. =)

  1. Ouch... >< Well, you are a great blogger, despite being "one-handed," you still managed to get a post up. If it were me, I'll be either wallowing in self-pity or taking 5 hours to type one post.

    Great job! <3

    1. Aw, thanks! That's the sweetest thing I've heard this morning. =) Haha, I'm trying not to wallow. It can be hard. The plus-side is that I don't have to do dishes! =D haha. And after writing two books on the computer I'm familiar enough with the keys that I can type one-handed about as quickly as two...I just have to use the back space more. =)

  2. Hahahaa this reminded me of when I was about 6, I was doing kart wheels and a few days later I had lost all strength in my arm. Like I couldn't hold a glass anymore... I didn't go to the hospital but just bandaged it up. I kind of liked it though because it meant at school the teacher had to write for me and I didn't have to go swimming ! It came off a few weeks later and I was good again luckily ! Sorry to hear about your arm / wrist ! Hope it gets better soon. 4 weeks seems like a very long time ! Still a great post even if it is one handed typing - which must take you forever...

    1. Wow! A fellow cast-wheel injury-person (what? lol) That is nice that your teacher wrote for you. I still have to do it. LOL But I'm right handed and it's my left so it's not that bad. 4 weeks does seem like a long time, but I'm trying to keep my focus on the bright side. =) I actually can type pretty well one-handed, and sometime I cheat and use both hands even when I'm not supposed to! =P ;)

You were very observant! I still can't believe you guys caught that. That means your studying my pictures! I'm worried now. ;D

    I wore a cast once, when I was 2, so I don't remember it.

    1. I didn't know you ever had a cast! Was that about the same time as the "I don't need a car" dilemma? ;D tehehe

Yeah, I'll tell them. I suppose. ;) lol

    1. Yeah, it isn't fun! =P Well, they found out I did something to the joint, so I don't think it was ever sprained. But I'll tell you one thing, I'm not doing any more cartwheels! =)

  5. Oh I had to wear one of those for a few months like last year. I sprained/pulled a ligament of something when I was at this dance. We were all kinda hyper after it ended, so we all started doing that thing where two people grab each other's wrists and then spin around as fast as you can. So I was doing it with my sister and she decided to let go when we were going really fast without telling me, so I fell. -__- Wow I just realized that was really long, whatever lolz.

Anywho, I hope you get better really soon!

    1. Ouch! LOL That does not sound fun. I'm sure you were super happy with your sister after that! ;D That's fine that it was long, I love reading stories and long comments. =)

Thanks. I hope so too, after I get this cast off I want to be done with this wrist, for good! LOL

    1. I'm so shocked that you guys saw that! LOL Well, most of the time I type 2-handed, but I'm not bad 1-handed either. Typing it the least of my problems. =P But, it has made me incredibly thankful for the grace God has given us. I can't imagine someone who lost an arm or hand in a accident; or was born without it. Makes me praise God all the more for His many blessings. =)
